Activities

At Christ the King, we offer a variety of athletics through the Catholic Schools Athletic League (CSAL) for students in grades 3 through 8.  Our athletics program is a great opportunity for students to participate in sports with their peers while representing our school to develop leadership skills, athletic skills, and sportsmanship.

Sports are offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.  The Fall season consists of Cross Country and Flag Football.  We offer Basketball during the Winter season, and Volleyball in the Spring. Practices and games are weekly after school, with games or tournaments on weekdays and/or weekends. Our teams are coached by dedicated parents and community members.  If you would like to be a coach, please visit the Coaches page.

Cross Country

Fall Season

We offer cross country every year for both boys and girls in grades 3-8. Catholic Schools Athletic League (CSAL) hosts three annual meets at high schools in the area: Bishop Machebeuf, Holy Family, and Mullen. This year we are looking to add a new meet sponsored by John Paul II the Great, a new Denver high school.

Our Cross Country program is a way for our athletes to develop foundational skills that will nurture a lifelong love for running, while also providing training for other sports.

Flag Football

Fall Season

Flag football is the most recent sport added to Christ the King athletics.  Flag football is offered to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Our teams are coed and may be combined with other grades if necessary. Games are held on Saturdays in September and October.

Our flag football program provides athletes to develop their skills in running, catching, and throwing. Additionally, athletes and teams create their own offensive plays.

Basketball

Winter Season

Basketball is one of the most popular sports at Christ the King for boys and girls in grades 3-8.  The season lasts from late October - mid February with two practices and one game weekly. Our JV and Varsity teams are made of 5th - 8th graders, and our 3rd and 4th graders play in the Widgets league. Students of all experience and ability levels are encouraged to participate.

Basketball is coached by parent volunteers and provides the opportunity for all players to develop their athletic skill and sportsmanship. First and foremost, our coaches focus on basketball development and instilling a love of the game in each of our players.

Volleyball

Spring Season

We offer Volleyball to our 3rd – 8th grade girls. Students will learn the fundamentals of Volleyball while promoting the moral and character development of a team. Teams work together to grow athletic skills and sportsmanship. Games are played against other Catholic schools with an end of season tournament.

We feel fortunate to offer this to anyone who would like to try to learn the sport of volleyball in a safe and welcoming environment.
